Intro to Acro Yoga

Intro to AcroYoga – Trust, Play & Connection

Step into the playful world of AcroYoga in this 2-hour beginner-friendly workshop designed for all levels. Combining yoga, acrobatics, and mindful connection, AcroYoga is less about performance and more about communication, trust and fun.

With two experienced instructors guiding you, you’ll explore the fundamentals of working in pairs, learning the roles of base (the foundation of support) and flyer (the one lifted), with spotters creating a safe and supportive environment. This workshop includes a balance of teaching, demonstrations and plenty of breaks. This isn’t two hours of continuous work, but a paced journey where you can learn, rest and play.

What to Expect

  • Gentle warm-up to build body awareness, trust, and communication

  • Hands-on guidance in learning the roles of base, flyer, and spotter

FAQ

1. Do I need a partner to join?
Not at all! Many people come solo. We’ll be rotating and pairing up throughout the workshop, so you’ll get the chance to work with different people (if you want). If you do bring a friend or partner and book as a DUO you get a small discount and you’re welcome to stick together as well.

2. Do I need any yoga or acro experience?
Nope. This workshop is designed for all levels, including complete beginners. We’ll guide you step by step, starting with the basics and build up at a pace that feels comfortable with lots of demonstrations and rests in between.

3. Is acroyoga safe? What if I fall?
Safety is our number one priority. We’ll teach you how to spot (support) each other so there’s always someone looking out for you. We also start low to the ground and progress gradually, so you feel confident before moving on to new skills. If bailing out of a shape/pose occurs, we are working on a shock absorbing surface. This isn’t a hard floor but rather one designed for impact activities.

4. What should I wear to the workshop?
Comfortable, fitted clothing that allows you to move freely. Think leggings, shorts, or activewear tops. Avoid super loose clothing or anything slippery, as it makes it harder to balance.

5. Do I need to be strong or flexible to take part?
Not at all. Acroyoga is about teamwork, technique, and communication rather than raw strength or flexibility. We’ll show you how different roles (base, flyer, spotter) work so that everyone finds a role that suits them.

6. What if I’m nervous about being lifted (or lifting someone else)?
That’s completely normal! We’ll create a safe, supportive environment and never pressure anyone into doing something they’re not ready for. You can always choose to start as a spotter or stay closer to the ground until you feel more confident.

7. What should I bring with me to the session?
A water bottle, a sweat towel and an open mind. That’s it! We’ll provide everything else you need for a safe and fun experience. optional pilates socks (the kinds with grips underneath can be handy but not needed)

8. How is the workshop structured? Will there be warm-ups or spotting?
Yes! We’ll begin with a group warm-up and some partner connection exercises. From there, we’ll move into beginner-friendly acroyoga poses and flows, always with spotting techniques built in. We finish with a cool-down and some relaxation to integrate the practice.

9. Is this workshop suitable for beginners or only advanced practitioners?
It’s absolutely beginner-friendly. If you’ve done acroyoga before, there will also be options to explore more advanced variations. Everyone will be guided at their own level.

10. Can I come alone and still feel included?
Definitely. Acroyoga is all about community and connection. Whether you come solo or with a partner, you’ll leave having met new people and shared a fun experience.
